historical proof my roots may have always been in California
I wear flip flops whenever I can and just noticed this historical tribute to California with flip flop wearing people and can't help but feel a little closer to this state I proudly call home. Fall and Winter crops keep rolling in and many of us are still wearing sandals, wahoo.
sushi for dinner
Wakame seaweed salad and sushi at Ace Wasabi is often the perfect way to end a busy day
Lego love
There was a Lego station at Re:Make, an event for makers, we were asked to make something that we would like to have in the future. I made a little cabin in the woods and a few other transformations happened before I settled on this small red heart since there's always room for love and space to create.
HSB
Sunset at the beach after listening to Bonnie Raitt sing Angel From Montgomery at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. Other highlights included Steve Martin and Calexico, but Chris Isaak traveled just a few blocks from his home to give one of the best performances I've ever seen.
sunrise coffee
I met up with a friend for coffee before work at The Station where they serve up Blue Bottle coffee in Heath mugs. The walk over revealed storefront tiles usually covered by doormats that peaked out between long morning shadows while shopkeepers hit the snooze button one more time. Anchor is now an Italian restaurant and I wonder what it use to be.
365 days of __________
I almost bought an elusive durian fruit this year, but hesitated when remembering the process of selecting one that requires watching a youtube video and then of course the famous pungent smell that has it banned from many public places. Next year...
scent of the city
One of my favorite things about this city is that something is always in bloom from magnolias to rosemary and lavender hedges or little succulents and everything in between.
Tradition
Classy drinks for a classy gal's birthday/send off to NY with a stop at Tradition. Their bar is always stocked with fresh citrus and herbs ready for the next fancy drink served up by dapper fellas. I really wanted to sip from a tiki mug spotted behind the bar and was given this fancy hula lady. Today's foot self portrait was a tiled stairway that reminds me of a sunrise/sunset that matched the hues at Tradition.
Folsom Street Fair fashion and fanciful doors
I should have posted these photos earlier, but better late than never. There are more Folsom photos on my Instagram account. This fair is just one more part of SF that makes this city unique. I passed these bright entrances on the walk to the fair and it made me appreciate all the little bits of SF that add up to make it a daily favorite.

Happy Birthday to me
I celebrated a birthday this time last week.... hence another delay, sorry. I started the day with my favorite green juice with a new favorite book in hand at the Golden Gate Bridge lookout before cruising around Sonoma county for oysters, wine tasting, incredible views, and a little time to reflect. I'm rushing out the door again, but I'll start updating when I get back in a bit.
P.S. this is the book I mentioned before that I have photos inside and on the cover. Chronicle books has a special 35% off and free shipping with code "FRIENDS" at checkout.

it's no surprise...
after a few students went home early with a terrible cold it was really just a matter of time before I joined the club. I've been conquering a cold(flu?) for the past few days and while I'm feeling loads better I'm still taking it easy. I'll catch up soon and have an update here before you know it.

Dia de los Muertos is tomorrow
I'll be taking heaps of photos and eating my yearly churro or two. I've been a little better at updating and will probably catch up from this soon to be full weekend in a few days.
hugs and love
