stroll through Chinatown

Summer colors popping up in seasonal produce and a fresh coat of paint on a little poultry store. The mural above is in Jack Kerouac alley and it's one of my favorites. I just recently noticed the added wheat paste elephant and figure standing atop with an umbrella.

long walks in the rain

I declined a few requests to join in the SantaCon festivities and opted to walk downtown instead. A lot of produce in Chinatown was set out in boxes on the sidewalk to entice shoppers. The rain was a drizzle when I left the house and passed the still rigid boxes, but on my way back home the rain and wind grew strong turning the fruit into glowing shiny neon gems.

gem

This is one of my favorite signs in Chinatown and I decided to snap and share a pic of this gem with my new gem, my new iPhone. I've been using an iPhone 3G until today which means I just went from 3 megapixels to 8! I have a suspicion this new gem will bring clarity on many levels.

Chinatown glow

there's a little traditional Chinese band that plays in front of the Wok Shop. The neighborhood has a warm red glow from the lanterns and yellow store lights and awnings.
