optimism + Flora Grubb

I spent the day (8AM drop off) in the Outer Sunset as I waited for my car to be fixed and when they called at 3PM they told me they didn't have the parts in stock to fix it.... so, long story short I found this comic midday and just had to go with it and take a field trip or mental break and head to Flora Grubb Gardens, my little oasis in the city.

ladies who brunch

Courtney and I met for brunch at The Liberty Cafe, after hiking up and over Bernal Hill to get there. I almost order eggs benedict as hollandaise sauce is not something I make very often. We managed to get a small table in the back by this sweet window that reminded me of my own as the sheer curtain bellowed and swept the window sill.

beauty at Boulette's Larder

Almost every time I visit the Saturday Farmers Market at the Ferry Building I end up popping into Boulette's Larder for a cookie or two and sometimes just to look at shop as it's brimming with so many lovely edibles and little still life portraits waiting to be seen.

lovely lady day

I felt so lucky to spend the day frolicking around SF with my friend Julia and her daughter. I insisted we start the day with a ham and cheese croissant at Tartine and New Orleans iced coffee at Blue Bottle before beginning our whirlwind foodie/sightseeing tour of SF. Lovely day. It's hard to convey the immense amount of joy that comes from a deep and genuine friendship where you feel comfortable sharing life stories and feeling connected even when time has passed. <3

saturday in the sun

Happy sunshine Saturday with a walk to Fort Mason, lounging in the sun with a book and podcasts at the park, followed up with a late afternoon at the Renegade Craft Fair.

SF, I fell for you...

it's true. I'm usually pretty smitten with the city I live in and it's why I live where I live. I have fallen for SF more than any other place I've called home.

P.S. The Fell street sign was only changed on the park side which makes me love this even more.

shadows and light

Yesterday was Bastille Day and the city was buzzing. I managed to go to a friends send off last night and then passed through Union Square to watch The Artist on the big screen before walking by a few swanky parties with towering balloon arches as I made my way home. It was a late night and knowing I'd want to sleep in I put the blinds down, for the first time. When I woke up this morning I watched the shadows move on the curtain and was elated to have slept in a little later than usual. I've been noticing the light streams through the gaps in the awning, shadows and shapes made in the security grates, signs and brick more than usual the past few days.

Bastille day + goodbyes (for now)

I went downtown to help send my friend Annie off to NY for grad school. On my way back home I said goodnight to the little cabin in the city and watched part of The Artist being shown at Union Square.

let the right one in

Friday the 13th scary backyard movie night in Oakland was awesome! I finally watched Let the Right One In (Swedish) and it was as amazing as I hoped it'd be. I made two giant batches of popcorn, a chai inspired and rosemary with olive oil. I helped my friends make samosas and other treats that we chowed on while stretched out on and under blankets and the night sky.
